Mediation is a form of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). ADR is a way of resolving disputes between parties without going to Court.
Mediation is a private and confidential form of negotiation. It involves a Mediator, who is a third party and entirely independent and impartial, who assists the parties to negotiate a settlement.
Advantages of mediation are that it often takes less time and is not as expensive as litigation. It also offers flexible possibilities for resolving disputes which cannot be ordered by the Court. Mediation gives the parties control over the resolution of the case.
